Mel has it. William B Stout in his twin Packard engined Stout ST-1 all metal torpedo-bomber of 1922. The source picture is just as shown but here is one from Aerofiles.....
When a Navy pilot crashed it, the USN lost interest which forced Stout to seek new finance which came from a group of Detroit auto companies, including Ford which eventually took over the company, with Stout as Chief Designer, leading to the Trimotor.
