englishal, the evidence suggests to me that Gordie didn't know that much about the war in advance, and may well not have approved of it. However I agree with pretty much all else you said. My problem is that I'm not convinced that the Tories are any better or more competent. Osborne does a very good impression of a moron, Dave is Blair-Lite, and we know about Grayling.
You can't get a feeler gauge between the economic policies of the two parties. I mean: the Tories are going to cut the debt. They'll do that by cutting public spending by cutting out waste and non-essential jobs, to be lost by natural wastage while maintaining essential front-line services. Labour are going to maintain essential front-line services. They'll pay for that by cutting non essential jobs by natural wastage in order to cut the debt. Hearing Evan Davies on the Today programme trying to get either party to explain their policies in a way that differentiates them in the tiniest respect from the other party has been revealing.
The Economist said last week that voters seem to think Labour deserves to lose the election but the Conservatives don’t deserve to win it.
