If the two new 757's are to replace older, this obviously will not be able to continue in the longer term so what are Thomsons's plans in the future as a replacement for the 757? Say in like 10 years or so? I personally think it would make sense to keep the ex FCA A321's and source additional A321's/ place an order. But would there be any current routes Thomson operate the 757's which the A321 would not be able to reach?
The actual long term fleet plans as previously staed by TUI themselves is to have a shorthaul fleet based on the 737NG family and longhaul to be based on the 787. They seem to be going for a streamlined Boeing fleet and with only 2 A321 aircraft left I feel getting more would be very pointless. The A320/1 fleet is planned to have left by the start of the summer 2011 season.
