Just upgraded from McAfee VirusScan 5 to version 6
Something hosed my V5 DAT files & I couldn't stand the thought of reviving it all so went out and got V6. Tried "Repair" on V5 and to my surprise it worked and V5 was functional again.
Thought "Oh Hell, why not!" (foolish boy..) and installed V6 anyway. Not that impressed with installer - 2 big downloads required even tho' I had the disk. Several hiccoughs that made me sweat, finally sorted them out but I bet quite a few users would have given up. All seems OK now though.
Tip: You MUST completely uninstall V5 first, the V6 installer is lying when it says it can manage.
Worth it? Probably not - the scan-engine doesn't seem that different (it may be the same 4160 engine?) tho' the new HAWK e-mail-out checker will alarm if Outlook suddenly starts sending off a stack of viral e-mails.
