Vanguards had them
I recall from 1969 or thereabouts on several occasions being stopped at the traffic lights on the Wilmslow to Altrincham road where it crossed the MAN runway seeing a Vickers Vanguard deploy a parachute as it landed. I cannot remember whether I ever saw a viscount with one.
This was, of course, before they lengthened the original main runway and put the road in a tunnel.
