The reason why I’ve got shut of Norton’s is because many months back I upgraded to XP and due to Internet Security 2000 not being XP compliant I needed to buy Internet Security 2002, so I looked on the Symantec web site and decided to buy on line from Symantec and down load Internet Security 2002.
I down loaded to software, but couldn’t register it and could not update the virus software. So any virus that have come out since February then I couldn’t deal with, so I tried to get technical help from Symantec who just wouldn’t help me.
Early this week I got a worm and Norton’s couldn’t deal with it, so I contacted Symantec for help to get the software that didn’t work to work, I managed to get there number which was and Irish telephone number and they said that they wanted my credit card number because they wanted to charge me £59.00 to get the Internet Security 2002 software to work, this was more than the cost of the software which never worked in the first place, so I had to pay the £59.00, after 2 hours and 40 minutes on hold……………YES 2 hours 40 minutes on and international call I got to speak to technical, after only 10 minutes, the technician said that there was I fire alarm test in the building and would have to terminate the call……….I said could you contact me when you come back into the building, or could I have your direct number……….no he said you will have to come through the switch board, I said that it had taken me just short of 3 hours to get to speak to him, he said bye and the line went dead.
I am a bit upset to say the least, so I contacted Barclay Card to get the payment back for that call on the grounds of not getting the service I paid for, and the original cost of the software that didn’t work I will claim back through the County Court,
So this is why I’m never, never going to use a Symantec product again, so what’s the use in buying some thing that if on arrival doesn’t work they charge you more than the product cost to even talk to them.
