JAA CPL/IR to FAA etc!

Hello all.

I must warn you now that this is a FCL question so those of a feint disposition please look away NOW!

Okay...

I currently have the following:

a JAA (issued in the UK) CPL with an IR-SPA-ME and an MEP(Land) - All current.
>1000h TT
>900h PIC
>800h MEP

I also have an FAA PPL issued in 2004 for a SEP - This can't be current any more, not that I need the SEP anyway.

So, I have the opportunity to fly a privately owned, N-Reg, MEP, based in the UK, to be flown around Europe.

My question comes in a number of parts; firstly, as far as I am aware I can 'piggy-back' my IR and MEP onto my FAA PPL which I can re-validate. Is this correct?

Secondly, is the FAA PPL (with the MEP-IR) sufficient for me to work for a company as a Pilot and to be asked by the private owner of the A/C to fly it for him? This is the real key to my question...

I know that with the PPL there is a restriction that “no person who holds a private pilot certificate may act as pilot in command of an aircraft that is carrying passengers or property for compensation or hire…”

That is fine and of no concern to me as that is definitely not what is happening. The other restriction is that:

“…nor may that person, for compensation or hire, act as pilot in command of an aircraft.”

This is the concern I have! I work for company 'X' as a pilot flying a CJ for a private owner ('x' is the operator of the private A/C), and THAT owner also owns a light twin that he flies but wants me to fly on occasion for the sake or positioning and/or pleasure flights.

Basically, can I do this with my PPL or do I have to be paying >50% of the operating costs? Or, am I acting as a Commercial Pilot as I work for a company that operates his A/C?

I have researched this and am completely baffled. I would be very grateful if there is anyone out there who has similar experiences or for some reason actually understands JAA and FAA FCL and can explain how my situation fits in to it.

Finally, I'm sure I am correct in that I cannot get a FAA CPL piggy-backed on my JAA one can I?

Thank you, just for reading this...
Thank you, thank you, if you actually understand my question, and...
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU if you are able to help!!!!
