When in the TA about 1960, recollect eating tinned jam rolly poly (Sp?) which had been canned in 1939. I could understand why, even in the depths of WW2, no one wanted to eat it however, as an 18yo on an exercise, one scoffed the lot
Can't remember much about RAF survival rations but on CSRO course etc. never came across that farmhouse, much loved by cartoonists, with a freshly baked pie cooling on the window sill.
