Perhaps this is a beat up. As far as I was aware the first "Qantas Group" 787s would be going to the "Jetstar Group" starting mid-2103. Has this changed? 3 years is a long time. I wouldn't have thought positions for any "Group airline" would be allocated this year.

One imagines that the Group will put its assets where they can earn the most money. To do otherwise would leave the directors liable wouldn't it? Clearly the QF Long-Haul EBA (and those who wish to work under it) does not fit that "earn the most" criteria so one guesses that document will never ever find its way to the flight deck of a 787. Other than that one can only speculate.

One might argue that the mere weight of the EBA plus the wallets of those who currently work under it would make the 787 so nose heavy as to significantly increase fuel burn on long trips. Perhaps thats a factor.
