I would normally use the RTE 2 pages for the slightly more likely scenario of a last minute runway and/or approach change.
That said,obviously in a single runway condition I would opt to key in the alternate route on RTE 2. But as yet I have come across very few circumstances wherein I have had the luxury of using RTE 2 for the diversion route...
