Just wondering...

How is it that companies still manage to use a seniority list and get pilots to pay for ratings. And if that means they are only a couple of years in the company before they are up for command. Its madness to think 22 year old MPL pilots are ready for a command, (there are exceptions of course), but its common knowledge what the pass rate was for the last group that went through NAS, so surely common sense has to prevail.
What happened to companies pay for the training, bond the pilots to the company with the exit repayment coming down incremently over 3-5 years, a seniority list to keep them loyal and a command after 5 years (earliest), with wages commensurate to experience.
Somewhere between the unions, management and low cost it all feels mighty unsafe.
Might be old school but google what Cptn Sully says to congress about aviation today, cos he might be old too, but dat man can fly,(mighty fine landings too!) As Morgan freeman says, in just about every movie "I got a really bad feeling about this one"!
