It's the Captain's choice whether to exercise discretion or not. 1 second, 1 minute, 10 minutes, irrelevant.

It's not a tool for easyJet to use.

If the Skipper says no, there's no case to answer. Irrespective of what you think.

Anyhow, you're on an old contract and not worried about anyone but yourself.
