Mid last year Operations introduced a bidding system in which you can request for 5 days consecutive days off once a month. The scheme is via email and sent to the rosterers starting every 28th of the month for a roster in a months time. For a March roster, bids are sent out starting 28th Jan till 2nd Feb. First come first serve. Quite a good scheme if you ask me.
A Captain here has his family in Perth and arranges with the rosterers to work (hard) for 3 weeks then gets a week off to go back to Perth. With AirAsia X servicing Perth daily, it works out quite well for him.
