Whilst listening on 118.82 last night there was a EGGW departing a/c that had just been handed over from EGGW on track to Detling.

Usually when a LTN departure off 26 calls London on this frequency and is on a DVR or CLN SID it is normally in the left turn to BPK making it's way over the St Albans area.

This a/c was much further South and it appears that it had already been given the DET track before it had contacted London.

Is it standard/common practise for the controllers at the departure airport to "ammend" the SID and drop a waypoint? I presume this needs to be done in strict collaboration with the London controllers.

Any information is always helpful.
