On the other hand, there are probably a lot of guys just waiting for Qantas mainline to start hiring (it will surely be doing so at some point); and then I would think there would be a massive cleanout.
You may be waiting a few years for that to happen. Just go ask QF guys how much progression is forecast.

JQ group (Aust/Asia/NZ) will get 50 new A320 over the next five years plus 15+ 787. Two more A330 later this year. Sure the pay is lower than elsewhere but progress to command should be quicker - especially if you are prepared to move around to get it. JQ plans to recruit about 120 newbies in 2010 and is making good $$. I have heard VB may be up there too.

For those thinking about making the jump, in this industry (which is fickle at best) a bird in the hand......
