As a QF techie (though admittedly not on the bus), I'm not sure that it's a huge deal really.

Tech crew rest is frequently disturbed when the seatbelts sign comes on in the middle of the night anyway, by the light and the chime which are unavoidable. It was certainly that way in the aft tech crew rest on the 744, and it's usually that way on the 767 too unless you're an amazingly sound sleeper.

I wear earplugs to make the chime, PA, and screaming baby problem disappear. Can't take away the bumps though!

Now the dobbing - that's a whole other issue! In this climate, I'd just stick with SOPs.
