GoME, could you kindly elaborate in what form discrimination is taking place against foreign pilots by the Panamanian pilot's union?
The union in Panama has traditionally been against the idea of foreign pilots working in the country. About 10 years ago the US Government, in cooperation with the Panamanian Government, operated a project in Panama using civilian registered N-numbered aircraft. The pilot's union was similarily miffed that no Panamanian pilots were employed for this and went all the way of accusing that this was a violation of the National Constitution.
Obviously, a lot of politics, but numerous Panamanian pilots have also moved their careers to the flight ops departments of companies far away from Panama during recent years.
