Buying direct from a manufacturer is almost always more expensive than buying from a reseller. The manufacturer doesn't really want to deal with individuals, one item at a time, and they sell in bulk at a much reduced cost. The resellers accept a lower profit margin, thus a lower cost to the buyer. The manufacturer charges as much as the market will bear, and often more, not caring about making individual sales.
