as far as I know all MOD issue watches still come with the grey nylon G10/NATO type strap 'NSN 6645-99-527-7059 DEF STAN 66-47 ISSUE 2'.
(Issued since 1992).
And yes,
it does seem odd when the above nylon strap was issued after the earlier brown combination strap with the leather bit '6645-99-527-7059 DEF STAN 66-15 (PART 2)'. (Issued from the early 1970s until 1992).
The leather backing was meant to protect the wrist from the melting nylon strap during a cockpit fire!
