Grumman Aa1a - A Good Bet?
I spotted an ad for a Grumman AA1A at an affordable price the other day. I have been looking for a suitable economical aircraft for some time and have conidered the Europa, Vans, Luscombes and several other 2 seaters.
I wondered if anyone had any experience of the type. I have surfed the various Grumman web sites and looked at a few ads from around the world to compare prices.
One thing I spotted on the web was that the AA1 does not like grass. Is this a factor? I would be operating off grass so don't want to make a cardinal error at this stage. I can't see why it wouldn't be suited to a grass airfield but would appreciate any views.
Finally, the aircraft in question is on the N register. This is not a major issue as I have the appropriate FAA licences but I would appreciate advice on the mechanics of using and maintaining the aircraft in the UK.
