Aer Lingus are joining Star Alliance from 28th of March 2010. First signs of this alliance are already visible with the announcement by BMI of a reduction in services to LHR. Aer Lingus Business Class to be introduced on LHR and Key short haul business routes from March 2010 also.
Aer Arann are operating a franchise agreement with Aer Lingus from March 2010 on current UK routes from Dublin except LHR & LGW. A new route to Newcastle will also be operated under this agreement. 3 Aer Arrann ATR-72 aircraft will be dediicated to the operation. Some details are still to be finalised but contracts have been exchanged. This will free up 2 Airbus 320 units from the summer schedule which are planned to be redeployed.
