Back in the early eighties BA employed its own aircraft cleaners who were members of the T and G (now Unite).
They went on strike (as they frequently did in them days) and their jobs were done by other volunteer staff within the airline.
It was soon noticed the cleaning was done much quicker requiring less staff and to a higher standard, with the result that the cleaning was outsourced very soon afterwards.
