Whats wrong with ex-diplomats ? maybe an RN Commodore ex F4 jockey should have a go. I think one made an excellent job of re-organising the Defence Medical Services. I dont remember anybody criticising him too much when it was all over !!!
Seriously, you can't keep standing forces of any size back in the UK.(Where else can they go now?) There is only so much polishing of a/c, tanks and ships that can be done before the beanies notice. Therefore its cuts, as usual.
