Angel Not so sad an end ...

... but a bit of a shock. Way, way back in the '70s and fairly recently retired from airborne fun & games, I took my (then) young son to the RAF Museum, and one of the first aircraft we saw was Canberra PR3 WE 173, the winner of the NZ Air Race, which I had flown while at Wyton in the late '50s. To find that an aircraft which I vividly remembered with affection was now a museum piece was a shocking confrontation with reality.
Sad that so many memorable aeroplanes (to those who serviced and flew them) end up Resting In Pieces.
Now, so many years later, I think my son still thinks of me as a museum piece ...
