I see BA have finally managed to persuade HAL to allow remote deicing. It only took twenty years!!!
I don't know why they took so long, and I have little time for BAA/HAL, but I suspect that environmental problems with prevention (ie containment) of run-off of quite potent chemicals to ground water may be a contributory factor here, only because they are everywhere else in UK.
