Well yes, a tie up would make sense - but not for BHX or EMA!
EMA will just laugh if asked to give up some of their air freight business to CVT to enable them to set themselves up as a major competitor.
Really this new 'strategy' seems to be based on BHX giving up some of its freight business (and anything else they can think of) to CVT and for an airport stuggling to maintain passenger levels and profitability Birmingham would have to be potty to allow seepage of that sort.
This strategy is similar to the previous CVT management's cunning plan which envisaged Birmingham giving up its so-called shorthaul routes and concentrating on longhaul, the mystery of course being, how could BHX survive such a crackpot idea.
Coventry as a stand-alone airport is either viable or not and I'm afraid the idea that BHX, the big brother just down the road, could in any way subsidise CVT should be quickly ruled out.
Sorry but I can't see any sense in moving BHX business to CVT as the result would eventually mean even more redundancies at Birmingham.
