For the sake of the many jobs depending on the re-opening of CVT let me state that there are two bidders, Omniport and a Swiss/American Group. While Omniport is bleeding money in Norwich and Maastricht (which never turned in a profit) the latter have the financial means to incur the start-up losses and to develop the infrastructure in line with the needs of current and future tenants. Their strategy is based on cooperation with BHX in the sense of an airport system, where each of the airport in the region (BHX, EMA, CVT) have their dedicated role. CVT's role will essentially BA/GA and ad-hoc/specialised freight. They are well connected globally and are able to bring, inter alia, substantial MRO operations to CVT.
Potentially great news for all those who rely on CVT for employment! However I think any cooperation with BHX or EMA is unlikely, both would probably like to see CVT gone for good!

IMHO the development of CVT as a specialist maintenance facility could be a viable option. The Midlands has an excellent reputation for engineering expertise (just look at how many Formula 1 teams have links to the area) With adequate additional training, such expertise could lend itself well to BA / Commercial / Military aircraft maintenance facilities.

Fingers crossed for all those awaiting a positive outcome.
