Well if she is coming to VB to trim it of excess fat the I feel for the staff. How do you streamline an operation that is already skin and bones in a lot of operational areas?
Skin and bones?? Perhaps in Maintenance,Ramp,Flight Crews,Check-in,pretty much everywhere except 'The Village'. No shortage of ridiculous positions that exist solely for the purpose of keeping a bunch of 'lapdogs' employed who originally worked within the airport environment but managed to suck their way alongside Managers who should have been dumped back in 2002 at the latest.
Perhaps a new imported Senior team is what is required to trim and cull the deadwood roles and mates rates positions once and for all. After all,how many Operations Mangers/Ground Operations Managers/Operations Operations Managers and their tag along lapdogs do you need ? Take a look at the QF cuts as well as Tiger and Jetstar's airports and Management roles and you will see how a lean operation can be run. VB lost the plot years ago when it started creating jobs for mates that have the title 'Manager' or 'Specialist' attached to it.
Yes,maybe the frontliners are spread thin, but the conga line of mates rates employees is alive and thriving (or should I say festering) deep within the company. The sooner that decisions are made to get rid of the deadwood plus the members of Management over a multitude of departments who have ridden the company's value into the mire for almost 10 years, the better.
