I hope you do not mind me commenting regarding what you may have "heard" about emir.
I flew with him ... and many others in Regional. I can say objectively that he was one of the best. I have to admit that generally speaking, the Regional south american guys were all very good hand flyers, including emir. However, what emir possessed on top of that -which many of the others were clearly lacking - was the operations/regulations knowledge that is required to make the right decisions in delicate situations
