I don't think airlines have to provide hotac if the cause of the delay is outside their control. I was delayed 75 hours by an ATC computer breakdown last year and EZY rebooked me but didn't recompense my £500 hotel bill (for two people in Palma at the height of the season with an 0130 check-in time!).
