Come on kids, Op Deny Christmas is basic stuff.....

Op Deny Christmas
•noun, informal, Mil. UK - RAF
Any unforseen (by the recipient), short notice event that involves denying an individual time at home over the Christmas period. Usually the result of poor planning by senior staff, aircraft unserviceabilities downroute or crews getting lashed up on det and being sent home (this would, of course, never happen. Ed.)
90% of Op Deny Christmas events are generally known about up to a month in advance by HQ personnel however RAF policy dictates they may not be acted upon until on or after 22 Dec. This ensures the senior officers who formulated the plans are on leave themselves and the breaking of the bad news can be left to junior ops and/or sqn staff.
The notice given to the individual(s) concerned is inversely proportional to the level of disruption to existing domestic Christmas leave plans.
