ithinkso, if the conditions don't require automated flight control then don't use it, (assuming you know where the border line is?), but as soon as the weather starts to get limiting then of course you use the automatics to fly the near perfect approach which you will monitor and only take over to GA if explicit parameters cannot be met. If human pilots could fly as accurately as auto pilots then why don't you fly in the cruise at FL350 from time to time? (Please don't tell me that you do!).
