Lasers in this category can cause permanent eye damage with exposures of 1/100th of a second or less depending on the strength of the laser, thus protective eyewear is recommended when direct beam viewing of Class III lasers. 1/100th of a second is faster than the eye blink reflex, there by the laser will cause damage to your retina before your natural blink reflex to protect the eye can kick in.-A fraction of a sec and your are blinded, that’s all it takes. If you think that’s exaggerated and wont do any damage to your eye, that’s your call there is plenty of data available if you do the research, I would prefer to err on the side of safety.
