Lightbulb PDA GPS system

I've been inspired by a thread in Private Flying to investigate renewing my PDA and getting the kit to create a PDA based GPS system.

I have three areas of question, as a result:

The iPaq 3870 is about £150 cheaper in the US! If I buy one from there, will there be any differences/hardwired region settings (apart from needing to buy a 240V charger) that might stop me from using UK bought accessories or software?

I think I get the picture that I need a GPS with a remote antenna (I will be flying high wing for the foreseable future). Hiowever, I would also like to be able to use the GPS system for in-car/on-foot nav... any recommendations on a good sleeve GPS that has an add-on remote antenna? Or something else that would do the job?

The Anywhere Map software looks very good - but I can't seem to find an y mention at all on the website about a European database. Anyone know if there is one? Or is there better software to use in the UK?

Questions, questions...

Cheers
Hersh
