GS2008, yes there can be a big difference. A lot depends on the availability of fixed base trainers, computer based programs (for operation, not just tech) and other stuff. None of this may be "required" but if it is available, it will allow completion of the type rating with better than "minimum" standard.
The right training organisation will be more than just a sausage factory doing the minimum required. Airline organisations are good as they train people to their standards (as opposed to minimum standard) and are operationally experienced with the aircraft. I'm not saying specialist training organisations are bad, but a lot of the time, you get what you pay for. If you want a job flying that aircraft type, the extra it may cost may be better value in the long run.
