I think you must be right LM. I found something from that last clue that tick all the boxes, as follows.

Their first plane, the ‘Daru’
(heron), a four seat, single winged 160 HP air craft, but they were not
able to market it and the company went into bankruptcy. In 1929 Rotter
joined the Hungarian Boy Scout move ment’s flying division and built
the 20 meter wing span glider ‘Karakán’. Rotter broke all Hungarian
glider records with this plane. In 1934 he spent a continuous 24 hours
flying over Budapest with his glider. With his explanation of thermal and
air wave movements related to gliding, Rotter gained international fame.
In 1936 he was invited to the Berlin Olympics, where he has flown a
pre-announced 336 kilometer distance from Berlin to Kiel, a world record at the time.

A good challenge from Skytrain, almost living up to Noyade's "un-googlable" variety!

Rats!! I knew that tail shape was familiar, I got the Dongo a while ago, but I couldn't place it.
