However, I hold in distain the human lemmings in our industry who substitute rumours for truth with no regard for the consequences of their actions.
To some, I suggest that they read the
Defamation Act, 2006 for a bit of an eye-opener. Of significance is that perpetuating a malicious falsehood leaves you just as open to damages as if you originated it.
Not only that, but the onus is
on you to prove the truth of your statement not for the litigant to show that a damaging statement is false.
