My name is Simon Jones and Ian was my father.
I was so touched by the comments and stories from fellow pilots and people who had the good fortune to know him that I wanted to acknowledge your thoughts and sorrow at his passing.
I am obviously devasted by his death and cannot express the loss that we all feel. But at the same time I know that he lived life to the full and was able to touch the lives of so many people in such positive ways. My own grief is somewhat lessened by the loving and fond memories I have of him. Too many hilarious stories that only 'Jonesy' could tell, the unbelieveable exploits that he got up to and the laughter that always followed him and that he created in others.
My father would want you all to share your stories of him with others and he would love to be around to hear the laughter and share a drink. I hope that at his ceremony there will be lots of stories told, laughter heard and the occasional tear shed for a man that truly was remarkable.
