Just one little point, CurryMonster - I've not flown around there recently (but used to work at Warton and fly out of Blackpool as a stude PPL), but there have been many reports in GASIL and the Occurrences Leaflet about PPL type people who become 'temporarily uncertain of their position' get Blackpool and Warton confused. Blackpool is the one nearest the tower and not the one in the Ribble estuary!!
The main instrumented runway at Warton is 08 / 26 2341m TORA from the 26 end, compared to Blackpool with 10 / 28, 1869m runway length (couldn't find TORA on the AIP aerodrome chart).
HTH - as the others said, the MATZ controllers are *usually* nice as pie to talk to and are very nice chappies (not that I wear a light blue suit in my spare time!!! ;-)) ).
