Re the pilot (but represented by an actor) comment about check in 45 min before departure for a 6 sector day - couple of points for the non cognoscente:
Almost everyone I know arrives in briefing before their 'on duty' check in time. Makes for a relaxed operation. I will refrain from comment upon whether I think STD -45 is a REASONABLE time to come on duty.
Used to fly 6 sector days around Scotland in the winter in BEA. That was when some of the independent boys were saying we didn't work.
