If I had one that started making a "right racket" during flight, I think the check list items would be:-
WINDOW OR DV PANEL - OPEN
CO DETECTOR - DISCARD OVERBOARD
Benefits:-
- Opening window or DV Panel vents CO
- You are alerted to problem to be investigated later on the ground
- Nasty, distracting noise stops
