Well as far as I know you'll follow a fake aircraft on a imaginary route. With mine, I had to depart an airfield in controlled airspace doing all the relevant departure calls like calling for start up and taxi etc.. I had to request a Flight Information Service, change to another frequency and call a PAN because I saw someone floating in the sea with a life jacket on . Then my engine failed and I had to call MAY DAY. Good news is it restarted again! (woo hoo). The test was cut there as the examiner thought that he had seen enough (however I think he had to go and cut the grass and wanted to be home on time). For what it was it really wasn't worth the price tag, but that's aviation right?
