At the time of the results being issued, the airline said its Shannon- New York service “remains under review”. The Government is thought to view the route as important, however, possibly leading Aer Lingus to suggest a compromise that would see some Dublin-New York flights stopping at Shannon.
Might it not be more cost effective (and less disruptive to DUB pax, unless they decide to actually use the SNN clearance facilities on a stop over) to just wet lease a couple of US based 757's, spay them green, use Irish cabin crew and flying them JFK-SNN. The could potentially even run the odd W pattern into Cork and Belfast.
