I've had my 296 going on groundspeeds of around the 220 kt mark - coped fine with it, although I normally have it on a large CDI display (no moving map) unless specifically required. With regards to the terrain maps - I can see how they're good in theory - but if you're relying on the terrain warning features of a 296 or similar for actual terrain avoidance, I think you're doing something wrong.
