Old mate with a 90 knot Piper was harping on about how good the 495 is versus his old 296. Increased refresh rate is very noticeable (if using in track up display on map versus north up) and if scrolling ahead with the cursor, plus terrain detail far more enhanced and the voice prompts are standard which are not in the 296. Eg. pull up, pull up, terrain ahead in 60 seconds, etc. Screen brightness on half is greater than full brightness on the 296.
