Luton Reduction In Passenger Numbers
Not surprised at all about the Transavia move, I think I said in a previous post once the allegedly cheap deal was up they would up sticks again, they did it at Stansted and iŽll bet they will do it at Gatwick - next stop Manston! As for the passenger figures the Rotterdam route was only generating between 5-6,000 passengers monthly - about 65,000 a year. I donŽt think you can blame the airport about SkyEurope it was just one of those things like Court Line, Debonair, Mediterranean Express etc. many years ago. As for Windjet I always thought they were going to Gatwick anyway - but we shall see. The big problem is easyJet - that is where the passenger numbers will really take a hit.
On a slightly other tack but relevant to Luton, passenger numbers have dropped dramatically at a lot of Spanish airports with UK and German tourists especially not venturing to Spain this year. Who owns a lot of the airports in Spain - AENA and Albertis!
