SAFA according to EASA requires the following:

A20 Flight Crew Licences
Licenses of personnel :
- Endorsement of certificates and licenses
- Validity of endorsed certificates and licenses
- Language proficiency
- Medical Certificate ( Spare glasses etc)
- Validity of crew licences and appropriate ratings

Aeroplane flight crew :
- Curtailment of privileges of pilots who have attained

their 60
th birthday

So if you're not a student pilot (JAR 1.080), there is no legal requirement to have your personal log book on board the airplane.
