Take the long view - statistics!
Routes come and go, traffic generally shows a trend over the year or two.
Both BOH and SOU are roughly back at 2005 pax levels now, but both are still very significantly up on 2004.
Best year was 2007 for both airports, with August 2009 numbers each being 20,000 pax less than August 2007. A big drop!
Sticking with the month of August - SOU dropped 15k pax in 2008 over 2007, and BOH dropped only 6k in 2008 over 2007, but caught up this year. Which says the business traffic (SOU) slowed first, and the leisure (BOH) followed.
But the SOU traffic is now stable -does that mean the business traffic is coming back? probably yes - Look at LHR numbers.. still showing growth!
Pre 2005, BOH was usually about 30% of SOU, that changed with the LCC base. BOH is now consistently 50% of SOU.
So expect to see BOH numbers stabilize and follow the SOU trend.
