Why does the BBC have to resort to tabloid style reporting when an Airbus is involved in an accident? The article on Airbus reliability, where past accidents are listed by date and location, conveys the message to the uninitiated that the Airbus is an unsafe product. It fails to mention the fact that in 29 years of Airbus operations, there have been 15 fatal accidents, 14 out of which have been attributed to pilot error. The last accident involving AA 578 is the only one that may prove to have been caused by mechanical failure.
