To all those doubters out there. This latest incident with the girls being jacked on the hotel bus is absolutely true. Happened to be on a layover in JNB when it happened and yes the girls did overpower one of the wood be hijackers and held him down until they got back to the hotel. Obviously not the recommended course of action but hey, never get between a flight attendant and her allowances!
Now I talked to the ISM who was heading straight for the security office upon arrival in HK and saw the reports that were submitted to the various departments and then neither saw nor heard jack from the company on what was a very serious incident with a real chance of someone getting killed.
I realise how important it is from a company perspective to keep accommodation costs down and the fact that we now stay in some pretty ordinary hotels around the network is more of an annoyance than anything else but this is a real security issue in one of the most dangerous cities in the world.
Throw in the marathon drive from the airport plus the less than helpful staff under the current management and surely it is time to look at alternative digs.
Probably not in my time though!
